@ndreas.net meets: David Andersson

Todays interview, and the first one in my serie of interviews with entrepreneurs, is David Andersson.

Who are you?
I am an entrepreneurship student at the Gothenburg International Bioscience Business School (GIBBS). I am currently starting up a company in the medical food market.

Why did you join GIBBS?
I have a desire for influencing society and create a better life for people.I find a venture to be one way to do this, especially in the health or environmental businesses.

What is entrepreneurship for you and what is it in it that attracts you?
Entrepreneurship is breaking boundaries. Without entrepreneurs we would still be throwing rocks on each other. In todays world entrepreneurship lets you create a job that suits your life, and not a life that suits your job.

How is you venture going?
We, Pylos Nutraceuticals, have recently hired another full time scientist for our R&D dept. We are currently develpoing a medical food against stomach ulcers, a disease that cost tremendous amounts for society worldwide. We are currently looking for collaboration partners for the production of our product.

What have you learnt from starting up ventures?
Since I have been involved in three company startups, including Pylos Nutraceuticals, I have seen that a significant factor is persistence. Most ideas will have their time. Some are simply just too early and being a spearhead too sharp can be fatal for the small venture. But the time will eventually come when the market has matured. Then you will be there waiting for the gold.. But in order to do this, patience is key.

Do you feel that there is something that should have been done differently?
No. Everything is a learning experience.

What is you future goal?
In the future I will work towards a more sustainable society. I believe environmental biotechnology can get us out of some of the mess we created so far. Sweden also has a strong position and could well be a world leader in sustainable technologies. In the knowledge economy, Swedens forefront research in this emerging field could also put us at pole position in the global environmental technology market.

One Response to “@ndreas.net meets: David Andersson”

  1. David, you are the kind of person I am looking for. I just got involved in a business that launched in Sweden in September. It’s a food that is helping people with cancer, diabetes, arthritis, alzheimers……….. Hippocratis, the founder of modern medicine said ” Let food be your medicine”. And you know how far we have gotten away from that. So this really excites me and I would be honored if you look at my website and let me know what you think.
